I did some major housecleaning yesterday because we had company last night, so the house is in good shape today.  Not much decluttering, just lots of regular cleaning.

I've worked a bit on my son's closet today:
  • emptied two boxes of baby/toddler clothes, recycled the boxes, packed the clothes up for donating or passing along to my sister's kids
  • filled a trash bag of random packaging, stained/unwearable clothes
It's not much, but every little bit helps!
I also came up with a plan that involves moving some furniture between rooms.  The end result will give both kids more storage space and won't cost us a penny.  Win-win.  Now, I just have to find the time to get everything cleaned out and moved around!
What have YOU decluttered this week?  (Leave your links in the comments, please, as Mr Linky is currently out of service.)  Leave your link below so we can cheer each other on!

WHEW! After a super-crazy-busy Spring, I can finally take a breath. The last of the big family events was this past weekend, and my work situation has finally settled down, so I won't be working 6 days a week any more.  The recent sunny weather perfectly matches my mood!

TOSSED: Sunday night I got energized and cleaned out my bathroom cabinet on the spur of the moment. It didn't even occur to me to take pictures, but trust me, it's a huge improvement.
  • I filled half a white kitchen garbage bag with outdated beauty products and general junk.  (Most were remnants from my early couponing days, when I'd buy anything that was a great deal.  These days, I only buy the things I'll definitely use, which saves us even more money!)
  • I put all the rarely-used products (hot oil treatments, spare box of hair color, etc) into one big square basket in the back.
  • My hair dryer and curling iron found a new home in an old plastic drawer unit that fits under the sink., and my make-up case nestles neatly on top.
  • There's now a lot less stuff cluttering up my bathroom counter= yay!
I have a huge list of projects I want to tackle now that the crazy season is over in my house.  I hope you'll join me here each week and share your decluttering/organizing progress, as well!

It's Tuesday and I haven't really tossed anything new since last week.   Sure, the party gift wrappings and containers went out.  The regular trash was a bigger pile than usual at the curb.  But nothing of note.... just trash.

The master closet project is becoming a joke between my husband and I.... every time I plan to clean it out, something else comes up.  Ah well.  It has to happen soon, as the weather is dictating that I HAVE to find time to put away my heavy sweaters and dig out some short sleeved tops.

I spent part of my morning today getting my new coupon box set up.  The old one had been badly beaten up and I couldn't even get it to stay open when trying to file or use coupons.   So, today I labeled new divider tabs and moved my coupon stash into a new box.   Not exactly decluttering, but organizing... and that always feels good!    I probably should pitch the old box (which was actually a square make-up case), but I haven't yet... it may get a second life as a bathroom cabinet organizer.

Anyone out there get anything decluttered/tossed this week?

Remember months ago when I started the computer/craft room project?  Yeah, well, after I got everything sorted and boxed, that was it... all progress stopped.  I've been living with a wall of boxes in my computer/craft room for... well... months.  Not pretty, but better than the mess that was here before.

Well, yesterday the planets aligned or whatever it is that people say, anyway, my husband and I *both* were off, home, and healthy.  We tackled some projects around the house and made great progress.

Moved:  ALL of the craft boxes went upstairs to their future home.     The old aquarium stand and tv were moved into the computer room.  I'm so pleased with how much bigger the space looks now.... not to mention lighter without all those boxes!  The old aquarium was a corner model, so the large wooden stand is perfect for the old tv.  We haven't decided if we'll hook up cable in here or just use the tv for the kids' video games.  Either way, it's a better use for it than having it sit on the floor of the living room!

Trashed:
  • FINALLY got trash pick-up arranged for a broken recliner chair that's been sitting in our garage, in pieces, for months.   It will be picked up tomorrow morning.
  • Also going at that time: the broken frame from the toddler bed that the kids broke last fall.  It couldn't be repaired, so it's going, too.
  • A black trash bag full of random papers and decorations from the computer room.  These were things that didn't fit into boxes or were behind the wall of boxes.  I'm amazed that that much stuff came from that small space!
  • A whole bag full of shoes from the front hall closet.  That was my husband's project... I didn't think there were many in there to go, since it seems like I just cleaned it out, but he was right.  There were several pairs the kids have outgrown or that were just too gross/worn out to keep
Passed Along/ Recycled:
  • I gave away the white trash bag full of books that I had decluttered a while back.  The sad thing is, I could probably fill another bag now.  But, my sister was happy to have them, and I know she'll take the next batch, as well.
  •  Late last week I spent an hour cleaning in the garage, and by the end our recycling bin was overflowing.  Somehow we always wind up with extra boxes and soda cartons all over the garage in the winter.  It felt good to break them all down and get them ready to go!
Whew!  I am energized and ready to tackle more things this evening.  Our trash goes out tonight for early morning pick-up, so I'm trying to see what else I can add to the mountain at the curb.  :)

Trashed: a bag's worth of junk from my desk... mostly papers and packaging.   (I really wish our recycling company would pick up regular paper instead of just newspaper!)

Shared:  a trash bag full of boy sized clothes, passed down to my nephew.   Also in the bag were some random toddler things I've found as we clean & declutter-- a couple of brand new toddler plastic spoons/forks, etc.    It feels good to finally have this bag out of the house!

Still working on the organized household notebook from my last post... I've got to have somewhere to corral all the paperwork from upcoming Spring events!

What did you get out of your house this week?

Out this week: a broken bathroom scale.  I replaced it a month ago but never got around to tossing the broken one.  Argh.

That's it.... but it's still something.

What have YOU tossed this week?

Wow. Seriously. Three posts in a row from the sick house. Could my content here get any more riveting?? ::sigh:: I can't remember our household ever being this sick, for this long. It's crazy. Thankfully 3/4 of us are feeling better now.

No decluttering done at home= boo!

Some decluttering done at work= yay!
Out: a large black trash bag full of assorted junk from my office. Mostly bits and pieces of projects, and a few random donations that nobody wanted.

Please tell me that YOU have had some decluttering success this week!

Nothing decluttered this week-- we're working on getting rid of the sick germs from two of us in my house.  Add that on top of a crazier-than-usual week, and there was no energy left for decluttering anything.

I'd love to hear what YOU decluttered, though... maybe it will inspire me to get back to work this week!

I haven't done a lot of decluttering this week, but what I did do made a nice visual difference in our master bedroom.

TRASHED: My old mini-stereo/alarm clock that I've had since college.  It's been taking up half my dresser but not working for a couple of years now.  I bought a small clock/radio to replace it a few months ago, so why on earth have I been hanging onto this?

Also gone: a black trashbag full of assorted junk from the bedroom: old magazines that weren't worth passing on, old mail, worn out socks, etc.

RECYCLED:  Well, not yet.... but I nearly filled a white kitchen bag with books from my bedroom.  Those are headed to the resale shop once the weather improves.

And what about you?  What did you get rid of this week?

I did some reorganizing, but not a lot of decluttering this week.

Donated:
-- half a bag of kids' clothes (will wait until the bag is full to drop it off)

Trashed:
-- one broken bathroom scale

What did you declutter from your home this week?

I got on a roll with decluttering this past weekend- I reorganized all of my lower kitchen cabinets and drawers. Pictures and post to come- right now I'm a little short on time! In the meantime, I didn't want to delay Tossed It Tuesday, so here's my list:

Recycled:
  • half a white garbage bag full of mismatched and worn out plastic kitchen containers
  • about six cardboard boxes
Trashed:
  • the deep fryer that I didn't even know we still had-- haven't used it in YEARS and it was too gunky and gross looking to donate
  • six plastic cooking utensils that were warped, burned, or otherwise junky
  • a couple of random baby bottle caps, spoons, and other gear found deep in the cupboards and drawers.... my "baby" is 4 now!
  • half a kitchen bag full of assorted junk collected from the kitchen drawers and cabinets
What about you?  Leave your list of what you've tossed this week below in the comments, or, just leave the link to your post.  And if you've written your own post don't forget to link back here...you can grab my button from the sidebar.  I'd love to have a lot of new people post their lists each week!

It's 3pm and I'm just now getting to my blog to post today's Tossed It Tuesday... sorry for the delay! I got up this morning feeling rotten, and since my husband had the day off, he suggested that I go lay back down. Well, I did... and FOUR hours later I finally woke up! Yikes! As a person who never naps, that was a shock... but I do feel a little better.

Anyways, on with the tossing! This past week I purged the Christmas storage area of my basement as I packed things back up. I also cleaned out my pantry, cleared my computer desk, and cleaned out my nightstand drawer. Whew!

Out of my house this week:
  • two large black trashbags full of broken Christmas lights, a broken snowglobe, bits and pieces of garland, and other assorted useless Christmas junk
  • a white trash bag of cardboard boxes to recycle-- mostly things from the pantry that had excess packaging I could toss.  It's amazing how much cleaner things seem without all that extra packaging taking up space
So, not a lot, but still progress.

What about you?  What did YOU toss this week as you worked to declutter your home?

I decided to challenge myself to post a weekly update on what has left my house as I continue to declutter.  Then, I got to thinking that it's better for me to be held a bit accountable to keep it up.. that's where you come in.  Grab the handy dandy button from my sidebar if you'd like, and join me right here, each Tuesday, to post what YOU have decluttered.  You can write your own blog post and leave the link in the comments, or, just leave your list right there in the comments.   (If we get several participants I'll look into putting up one of those Linky things each week.)  We'll cheer each other on, and hopefully, by Spring, our houses will be much lighter!

Today's list:  in the past week we've gotten rid of tons of Christmas packaging.   We filled three bags with cardboard and plastic from all the things that had come into the house over the holidays.  Most was recycled, although some of the smashed pieces and such had to be trashed.   Sure, it doesn't sound like much, but there have been years when that extra packaging has hung around the house for a month or so before it finally was bundled up and taken out... so I'm pretty happy to have it done!
Tackle It Tuesday Meme

So for Tackle It Tuesday, I'm planning to go through my Christmas storage area as we take things down this evening, and hopefully I'll be able to purge a bit-- I know there are some broken light strands down there that need to go.  Check back next week to find out what I tossed!
